Reverend Kevin P. Stroop: Scholar, Army Chaplain, Pastor
Reverend Kevin P. Stroop graduated with a B.A. from United Wesleyan College in Allentown, Pa. In 1986 he graduated from Duke University with a Master of Divinity degree. Stroop was Ordained an Elder in the United Methodist Church in the Eastern Pennsylvania Annual Conference in 1989 and commissioned as an Army chaplain.

During his 21 years as an Army chaplain, Stroop has served at Fort Polk, La.; Fort Hood, Texas; Friedberg, Germany; Bosnia-Herzegovina; The Presidio of Monterey, Calif.; Kuwait; Fort Myer, Va.; Fort Shafter, Hawaii.; and Fort Meade, Maryland.

Upon retirement, Stroop worked with Agape Hospice in Walterboro, South Carolina. In 2012, Stroop became the Pastor of the Smoaks Charge in Smoaks, South Carolina. In 2014, Kevin transferred to the South Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. In 2015, Reverend Stroop became the Pastor of the Wesley Memorial/Edisto Island Charge of the United Methodist Church, where he continues to serve.

Kevin is married to Dawn Garrison, and they have two sons: Kevin II and Benjamin. In 2021, Kevin became a grandfather with the arrival of Simon Maxwell Stroop.
